**Summary:**

Functions under the direction and supervision of, and is responsible to, a professional registered nurse. He/she assists the registered nurse by performing delegated patient care/program activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, safety and comfort of the patient and environment. LMHT's will do patient teaching and patient groups as delegated and appropriate.



**Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.**



o Performs physical assessments and collects patient data.



o Performs select psychomotor skills with competence.



o Documents all patient care provided in a timely, accurate, and concise manner.



o Reports all abnormal data to the RN.



o Collaborates with the RN.



o Follows the plan of care for patient populations.



o Responsible for reading and following interventions defined by the standards, patient care policies and procedures selected by the RN.



o Provides direct patient care in terms of physical comfort, hygiene and psychological support.



o Applies proper techniques obtaining specimens (urinary, stool, sputum).



o Observe patients for untoward reactions to prescribed procedures, medications, or any aspect of the plan of care.



o Obtains information from potential patient or referral source for admission then forwards to RN for disposition.



o Performs efficiently in emergency patient situation.



o Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and departmental functioning.



o Participates actively in clinical education activities for department and Division of Patient Care Services, including orientation of new employees.



o Participates in development and attainment of department, Division of Patient Care Services and hospital goals.



o Seeks validation of knowledge base, skill level and decision making as necessary. Assertively seeks guidance in areas of question.



o Demonstrates self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet own professional development.



o Demonstrates an awareness of self-responsibility for own professional practice.



o Demonstrates effective communication methods and skills, utilizing appropriate reporting structures.



o Formulates positive working relationships with all health care customers and employees.



o Adheres to Division of Patient Care Services staffing and scheduling practices.



o Leads therapeutic groups as assigned.



o Uses appropriate interventions to de-escalate potential crises.



o Applies and monitors mechanical restraints properly.



**Qualifications:**

**Education/Experience:**

Successful completion of a certified LMHT program and current licensure as an LMHT in the State of Kansas required.



**Certificates and Licenses:**



Current licensure as an LMHT in the State of Kansas.
